Joseph Jackson McGinty, my ggrgrandfather, lived in Warren
Co. GA and served in the GA Militia as a corporal in 2nd.,Co.,2nd Bat.2nd Reg. in 1797.
He was about 27 years of age then. He may have been married
but no record to who.
In 1800 he is shown as living in Hancock Co. Capt. Boothe's District, as a tax defaulter. He was received into the Island Creek Baptist Church on march 1, 1800.
Joseph had two land draws on May 11, 1803 but the draws were actually made in 1805. He has a further military record dated: April 13, 1804 which reads: "Joseph McGinty,
sergeant to Captain Graybill's Company, Hancock CO., GA.
Any information on this Joseph McGinty who went to MS in
late 1805 will be appreciated.
Thanks a million!
