Hood and Knowles families, Hancock Co., GA

hello,
I am researching my Hood line in Hancock Co, GA. I have hit a bit of wall on my ancestor, William Hood and his wife Margaret. I have not been able to determine his parents or Margaret's maiden name. I did notice that there are many Hoods, including a number of Williams, in neighboring Washington County, and I also found a marriage record in Washington County for a William Hood and Margaret Renfroe. This would fit in with the timeline for the birth of their first child. (Marriage record is 1842, first son born in 1843.)

So, i am wondering if anyone has come across my William Hood, or if someone can tell me the children, if any of William Hood and Margaret Renfroe, so as to either link them to my family, or to definitely rule them out as the couple I am looking for.

Here is the detailed info i have for them -

William Hood (b. 1812). Probably died between 1850 and 1870, as he is in 1850 census, but not enumerated with family in 1870.) married Margaret b. 1822 (Possibly Renfroe?), prob. married before 1843. Both were born in GA, according to census. They are in Hancock Co. by 1850, I haven't found them in 1860 census, and Margaret is listed as head of household by 1870 (in Hancock.)
Children:
John M. Hood (b. 1843) - Confederate Veteran
Elizabeth Hood (b. 1844)
David C. Hood (c. 1847)
Thomas Hood (1849)
Sarah Patience Hood (b. 7 sept 1851 - d. 24 dec 1931) m. John Thomas KNOWLES
Martha A. Hood (c. 1854)
Charles Hood (c. 1859)

Does any of this ring a bell?

Thanks in advance,
Anne Johnson
