Hi,
I am looking for more info on Nancy Ann Reed and her parents, listed on her death certificate as Joe Reed and Elizabeth Smith.
Ann was born April 24, 1847 in Hart County, GA, married John A. Hairston on November 11, 1862, and died July 13 1921.
She and her parents pose a mystery! In 1850 and 1860, she was living in the household of a Mrs. Maret or Merit, I believe a sister to Job Bowers. As far as I know she was not related to this lady, but I could be wrong. Her parents do not appear on either census, so I assume that she was orphaned by age 3 (again, I could be wrong!)
Her death certificate and subsequent censuses list her parents' birthplace as GA and she lists her mother's birthplace as Hart County, GA (not formed until the 1850's).
Can anyone help? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
