You didn't say if you had the census record for Albertus Connally in 1900. He and his wife are listed as Bert and Frances Conley in the Africa District of Spalding County, Georgia, on page 160 A (enumeration district 96, sheet 4). He is 51 and she is 47, but there are no children in the household, in fact, nothing recorded for how many she had.
As for 1870, I think a likely candidate is the Albert Conley in Greensboro, Hale County, Alabama, on p. 55. He is 20, single, and mulatto. How many guys like that could there have been in 1870? The only thing that doesn't match is that he was listed as born in NC, which could very well have been a mistake. I've found other relatives who were from Georgia, worked in Alabama for some time, then went back to Georgia.
