Hello, Karen, Thanks for responding. I still don't know exactly who Jordan Morris's parents are, but I've learned more about him and his wife Angeline. Her name was Payne, not Pace. I believe Jordan Morris is possibly her cousin as well as her husband. Angeline's mother was Olive Bankston, daughter of Abner Bankston of Butts Co GA. Abner's daughter Sarah Bankston married John Morris 18 Jul 1811 in Morgan Co GA. Descendants of Sarah Bankston 1 Sarah Bankston - 1852 d: 15 Jan 1852 .. +John Morris ........ 2 Eliza Morris 1812 - b: 29 Apr 1812 ........ 2 Greenberry Morris 1813 - b: 05 Oct 1813 ........ 2 Jefferson Young Morris 1814 - b: 25 Oct 1814 ........ 2 William Franklin Morris 1816 - 1862 b: 07 Apr 1816 d: 1862 in CSA ............ +Nancy Jones ........ 2 John Calvin Morris 1818 - b: 22 Jan 1818 ........ 2 Gustin Jourdin Morris 1819 - b: 07 Dec 1819 ........ 2 Elizabeth Ann Morris 1821 - b: 17 Aug 1821 ........ 2 Mary Long Morris 1823 - b: 11 Apr 1823 ........ 2 James Leroy Morris 1826 - 1854 b: 16 Oct 1826 d: 30 Aug 1854 ........ 2 Sarah Ann Morris 1828 - 1879 b: 24 Mar 1828 d: 22 Aug 1879 ............ +Wiley Fears 1821 - 1905 b: 23 Nov 1821 in Jasper Co, GA d: 20 Jan 1905 ........ 2 Catherine Louise Morris 1831 - b: 04 Nov 1831 ........ 2 Monroe Morris 1833 - b: 03 Jan 1833 I do not believe their son Gustin Jourdin to be my ancestor for a number of reasons, despite the fact that some Bankston researchers have assumed he is the Jordan Morris who married Angeline Payne. I do believe my Jordan is likely to be a relative of John Morris, perhaps a nephew. Jordan is also highly likely to be closely related to a James S and Catherine Morris who witnessed a land transaction to a Elisha Kirksey Jordan Morris of Butts to Elisha S. Kirksey of Jasper parcel in Jasper Co. SW fourth part of Lot 164 17th Dist. Formerly Baldwin home of the father, William Payne, dec. Wit. James S. Morris, Catherine Morris 1/8/1848 Recorded 8 Jan. 1849 DB D, p 433 There is a mysterious child named Elizabeth Morris, another heir of Olive Bankston, who was represented in court by Jordan Morris. She is not a child of Angeline and Jordan Morris based on the court records. ( She is named separately as an heir while the many children of other heirs are not named. Therefore she has to be an orphaned grand-daughter of Olve Bankston. I think she is a younger sister of my Jordan or prehaps a neice of Jordan (maybe his borother married another daughter of Olive- 2 brothers married 2 sisters). That seems likely to me. Elizabeth shows up in Panola Co MS in 1850 living near Jordan and Angeline, living with Angeline's brother. If any of this seems familiar, please let me know.
