Thanks for that info on Amory, Sr. I am always looking for more on the Brown’s.
Amory, Sr’s father was John H.Brown of Burke County. They appear on the Burke County 1850 census. John’s occupation is wheelwright. No wife appears, so I can only assume she is deceased.

John died ca 1856 or 57. Below is a Houston County guardianship record indicating Amory is assuming responsibility of his younger siblings. My gg-grandfather, David Mitchell Brown (Amory’s uncle) is putting up the security.

Deceased parent: John H Brown
David (1809-1877) raised his family in Houston County near Henderson. He had 11 children, but 3 or 4 of them died young. I haven’t checked 1860 census for Amory, Sr or his siblings, although I have found his younger brother, Leonidas (age 16), listed in 1860 with his other uncle, Ebenezer Brown, in Jefferson County. Leonidas later was killed in the Civil War – 1862 I believe. He was a young soldier.
I can’t tell you anymore on Amory, Sr’s life, but I would suggest tracking him down on 1860, 1870, etc census records, if you haven’t already, and see where that leads. Do you know when/where he died ??
The census records will indicate other children he had besides Amory, Jr. Do you know any more about Amory Jr ?
