Looking for any information on a Peter Secard (Secar/Secare) Humphries. He was a lawyer in Houston Co.GA. He was a son of Rev John Humphries and Eliza DuBose, a grandson of Rev Thomas Humphries & Elizabeth Calhoun and of Benjamin DuBose & Susannah Campbell. He was named after his grandmother Elizabeth Calhoun's grandfather, Pierre Secard (Secart, etc), a French Huguenot. (The DuBose family were also Huguenots) I know nothing of a family of Peter S. Humphries, such as a wife or children. I would love of learn of any descendants. He was active in politics as the only reference I've found of him states he attended meetings for the Whig Party, representing Houston Co. Dates of some meetings were July 1852, June 1853 (several in June) and an undated meeting. Peter's brother was Thomas DuBose Humphries who resided in Taylor Co GA. Thomas DuBose is gg grandfather. He was born about 1826, probably in SC (his father was a Methodist minister, he could have been born in GA) He died in Indian Springs GA on June 13, 1860.
