Dawson Co. was formed from Lumpkin Co. in the 1850's., and after that time, his family would have been in Dawson Co. census. Have you looked at the Lumpkin Co. census of 1840 and 1850 for Reddin or Redding? It is a nightmare trying to find someone that far back. I get so far, and don't know where to go from there.
