I found something interesting today on ancestry.com. On the 1870 census of Cherokee County, AL is a Martin Rouse. Martin is 78 years old and works for the Iron Works. He was born in NC. He is living with George W. Redding and his wife Elizabeth. George is 48 and born in Georgia. Elizabeth is 25 and born in GA. Sarah is 6 and born in GA.

One page from this Redding family is a Frances and Jacob Rouse.
