Hello,
My grandfather was Isaac Jesse Newton b. in 1899 in Irwin County, Ga. His mother was Sophronia Francis Bussell Sapp. He never knew his father or at least never spoke of him, but on my grandfather's death certificate Jesse Sapp was listed as his father, however, I have come across another partial family tree done by one cousin that states his father was Sam Sapp and according to Sophronia's death certificate, her husband was Sam Sapp. Actually, it's a little hard to read and looks like it could be Sam'l? Sapp. Whoever he was, apparently he abandoned the family during Sophronia's children's childhoods. It has been very difficult extracting information about my grandfather's father (there are stories that say his father...he's the youngest..is not the Sapp man)

Sophronia had 4 children that I know of: Minnie Dora Sapp Walker b. 1885; James Walter Sapp b. 1887; J. Kelly Sapp b. 1890; and my grandfather, Isaac Jesse Sapp b. 1899, all in Irwin County, Ga. According to Sophronia's death certificate, William Bussell and Nancy Lewis Bussell were listed as her parents also of Ga., but once again, according to some family, she was actually a Creek Indian and was reared by the Bussell family.

This is what I have found so far; Irwin County 1900 Census had Sophronia Sapp; age 33? with three of her four children, Minnie, Kelly, and Isaac. 1880 Irwin County Census I found a Soprona Bussle living with a William Bussell age 35 and and Eadie Bussle (his wife) and their children but Sophronia was listed as a cousin there.

In the 1870 Irwin County Census there was a William Bussell age 68 with wife Nancy Bussell age 40 and the children listed there were Sophronia age 7 and a Josephine age 2. Any information on this family would be very much appreciated. A marriage record for Sophronia, where William and Nancy Bussell were in 1880, perhaps dead?? Can you tell I'm a little frustrated?? :) Thank you in advance. -Tonya
