Irwin Co GA (now Tift Co) Land Lottery Records??

I'm trying to find out who the original owners were of property that been in my family for over a hundred years. Tift Co records started at 1916 and I understand the Tift Co courthouse burned in 1905. I called Irwin Co Clerk's office and they have records back to 1812. Was this land first deeded in a land lottery? if so how and when? I would like to follow the chain of deeds to the beginning.
