my great-great-grandfather was William W. Padgett. Julia A. Padgett was my great-grandmother. Julia and her husband James Taylor also came to Irwin Co. about the same time as Stephen did before 1918 they moved to Wilcox Co. When she died they were living in South Carolina. Have you tried the 1840 census Luke Padgett?
