James Gray;

In looking at the census records, which I think is (the 1888) you mention, should be 1880, I find John C Penticost age 42 wife Harriet 32, and 3 children . He is living with is brother, Matthew J. Poke Pentecost in 1860 age 21, and in 1850 he is only referred to as Bud age 11, brother Matthre J.P. is there and the parents were Richard William Pentecost and wife Sarah. They had been in Jackson county at least before the 1820 census. John C. was in Company E along with brother Marcus N., other brothers Matthew J. P. and David W, died in the War.

Now comes the difference which might throw a wench in the works. John was named , John Calhoun Pentecost in Ancestry Family Trees, a son of Richard Wood Pentecost, it might be someone has used the wrong middle names, and John Calhoun Pentecost died in 1895 & buried in Jackson County. Where did you get the middle name of Cornish? I can send you what I have looked up, if you think we have the same man, or there is another man out here with Cornish as a middle name.

Howard Boswell
