Just like SO many things on the net NOT always true.

NO other reocords show name as William even back to 1801

Everything , including his will and his stints as constables and justices of the peace in Lauderedale Co Ala and Fayette Co, Tenn and his jury duty there show Huky or Hukey

1830 census says Huky

1840 census says H. Brown

Believe the William came in when grandsons were named that so family just believed HIS name was that. However at least ONE grandson was WILLIAM Hukey because he was named after BOTH grandfathers.

I have seen documents stating Huky on Police Board AND I saw one print out stating WILLIAM Hukey

Believe that was info copied and added to...

Would be glad to see PROOF

I'm only a LAYman's layman at research eventhough I have been on this since 1974 so I sure could be wrong and have been many times in genealogy over decades...

Anyway, NO BIG DEAL ao THANKS again

I will let you know IF I ever find anything more.

brown, john t
