Ross, At Deed Book 3, Pages 2-4, Randolph County, Ga. now Jasper County, GA records is a deed from George Ray of Clarke County, Ga. to Samuel Ray of Clarke County, Ga for $300 being Land Lot 222 in the 16th Land District, consisting of 202.5 acres, of then Randolph, Ga now Jasper County, Ga. The Deed was dated 5/31/1809, signed in Clarke County, Ga and recorded in Randolph County on 7/26/1810. This land was drawn by George Pay in the Land Lottery. Witnesses were: Reuben Hill, Nathaniel Williams and Samuel Jackson. Note: 12/10/1812 the Georgia Legislature changed the name of Randolph County to Jasper County because of John Randolph's of Virginia, County's name sake, opposition to the War of 1812.
