John
Thanks so much for the information about George Ray who sold his Jasper c a land to his son Samuel Ray. George Ray owned land in Clarke co Ga. The last record about George Ray was in 1819 when his son Samuel tried to sell his Clarke co Ga land but was unable to so he signed the land back over to him. Many reseachers believe George Ray died in 1819 becaue that is the last record anyone can find about hm. Clarke co Ga was formed before the Ga land lottery where they used the district and land lot numbers. His land was in the fork of the middle and north Oconee River and it listed his neighbors. If they used the land lot numbers in Clarke co Ga it would be firly easy to find who he sold his Clarke co Ga land to or who he left it to but they didn't. I can not find a will or letters of administration for George Ray. there has to have been one or the other since he owned land. Do you have any knowledge of land records in Clarke co Ga? thanks, Ross
