Seeking information to confirm husband of Osceola McMakin
who is reported to be a John Stephens.They had the following children:Charlie R. Stephens, B-1886; Chessie J
Stephens, B-1887;Myrtice Stephens, B-1891;and Fred K
Stephens,B-1892.The McMakin family lived in Freemansville
Milton Co. from 1840 untill 1870 and are in Roswell in 1880
with most of the children working at the cotton mill.We have been told that Osceola and (John)Stephens married shortly thereafter.Osceola Stephens is in Atlanta in the
census of 1910 with her children and states she is a widow.
This indicates her husband died between 1892 (birth of the
last child) and 1910.She never re-married and her children
grew up in Atlanta.One of her daughters (my grandmother)
lived in Summerville Georgia in the 1930's briefly and
mentioned a Stephens family next door to them who were
related.I would appreciate any information to confirm
the identity of her husband and his family.
