Searching for information on the wife and children of Wiley Buckner Reeves. Wiley Buckner Reeves was born in Taylor Co., Georgia ca. 1858 to Thomas Jefferson Reeves and Mary Buckner Reeves. Wiley married Martha "Mattie" Byers in Marion County, GA. on December 25, 1879. She was the daughter of Sam Byers, Sr.. She was a sister to Samuel "Doc" Byers, Jr. who married Martha Dranny Reeves in Taylor Co., GA. Wiley and Mattie had a total of seven children, five of whom were still living in 1910.
Wiley and Mattie Reeves came to Houston County, Texas between 1900 and 1910 as they are listed on the 1910 census of that county with 3 children; Ouida, b. 4/5/1890 in Georgia; Tommie W., b. ca. 1896 in Georgia and Johnnie L., born ca. 1898 in Georgia. There were two other children I can't account for (Possibly Milton and Anna?? who did not come to Texas) Ouida married a Jim Taylor in Houston County 12/28/1912. They had a child, Raymond Louis Taylor (10/21/1913 - 12/3/1914). Ouida died 2/28/1918. Raymond and Ouida are buried in the Salem Cemetery located between Lovelady and Weldon, Texas. Wiley Reeves died prior to 1918 as he is not listed as a surviving parent on Ouida's death certificate. Wiley was also buried in the Salem Cemetery. After his death, Mattie, Tommie and Johnnie went back to Georgia. I would like to correspond with descendants of this family or anyone who has information on the family. Wiley Reeves is my great uncle. Wiley's parents, Thomas and Mary Buckner Reeves are buried in the Buckner Cemetery, Talbot Co., GA. His grandparents, Wiley Buckner and Judith Buckner are also buried in that cemetery. shirleygrammer@aol.com
