In Memoriam
With a sad heart we record the death of Mr. John Mott, who was born Feb. 29th, 1796, and died at his home in Taylor county, Ga., Feb. 13th, A.D. 1888, in the 92nd year of his age. He was buried at Bethlehem, the funeral services being performed by Elder Bennet Stewart the day following his death. He has been called by an all-wise and loving Father from the busy turmoil of earth. His body slumbers in the grave but his pure, gentle spirit has returned to the God who gave it to rest in paradise until the resurrection morn, when the grave shall give up its dead and shall be resurrected to newness of life to meet the blessed Son of God in whom he trusted for salvation, and who hath declared "he is not dead but sleepeth." "O death where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory? Thanks be to God who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Our hearts are torn by the separation but thanks be to God our hearts through faith exclaim: "The Lord hath given the Lord hath taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord." Mr. Mott leaves six children, two of whom are helpless. (remainder of article not readable)
