Since George Gabbert (c. 1750-1821) was at an age when it would have been hard for him not to have served in the Rev War, I'd suggest you check the Rockbridge County and Shenandoah County, VA militia rosters for his name. George died in Lincoln Co., KY but at a date when it was probably a little early to have applied for a Rev War pension. But since he was in his mid-20s to early 30s during the Rev War, he almost certainly must have seen some sort of war time service.
George's younger brother Michael did receive a pension for his service as a teenage militiaman in 1781, including the seige of Yorktown, where Cornwallis surrendered his army to Washington.
Incidentally, the brothers' parents, Matthais and Christina Gabbert, came to America from Schwaigern, Wuerttemberg, Germany. The family has been traced in Germany back to Matthias Gabbert's ggg grandfather. The name was originally Gebhard, but was changed when they converted to Protestanism in the 17th century
p.s. The Gabberts went west a bit late to be running around with Daniel Boone. And Davy Crockett was more of a story teller than a pioneer. Fascinating fellow though and unquestionably brave.
