Thanks! Some of these are a little different from the guestimates I had. Michael has a Rev War pension, and his younger brother Peter testified that he remembered his brother going off to war. Michael was drafted in Shenandoah County (formerly Dunmore Co.) in the spring of 1781 and assigned to Captain William's Company of Col. John Bowyer/Boyer's regt, VA militia. They marched off to join Gen. Greene's army in NC, but Cornwallis abandoned NC and they saw no action. No longer needed, the men were marched back to VA and discharged. But Cornwallis soon landed in VA, and Michael volunteered. He served at Yorktown in Captain Moore's company of Col. Nance's regt, VA militia. Wonder if you have found any more pensions for Matthias's sons.
