Dear Nancy, I bought the photo in an antique store in Baytown (formerly Goose Creek), Harris Co., Texas. HOWEVER, the store owners typically go on "buying trips", all over the country, so we cannot be certain where this particular photo came from originally. In the recent past, I have found (at different shops) photos which came from Illinois, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi and Ohio. Though I always ask the owner if they recall where they purchased photos, in this case, she did not recall. If it helps... Mrs. Gaebler & children are sitting outside (posed) in what appears to be a side yard of a family residence. A picket fence surrounds the yard and there is alot of vegatation, but the yard looks very tidy. The house appears to have been built of diffent widths of boards, again very neat and tidyily done, and the pitched roof appears to be well made. In general, the home, from what I can see, while "primitive" appears to be in good condition. Mrs. Gaebler appears to be in her mid to late 30s in this photo which I estimate was taken about 1920 (based on thier clothing and the style and condition of the home). All of the family is dressed in new looking, well fitting clothes, indicating that they were a family of some means. Perhaps another indication of their financial state is that this photo is a nice one... taken at home. I'd guess that they either owned (perhaps "Dad" is taking the photo) or knew someone who owned a camera - not a small expense for most families in that day. The photo was hand-trimmed and glued to a heavy cardboard type frame. One more thing... I did not notice before, but ovv to one side there is pencil writing that says either: "Eruess" or "Enuess"... I think; it is hard to read. Hope this helps. Regards, Suzy Notify Administrator about this message?
