Gaby Family Genealogy Forum

Hi Samuel,
Thanks to you and everyone else who has contributed to the discussion on name variations as they should definitely be considered. I hope others as well will join in this discussion in the future.
I was very excited to read your information and your comment concerning the 1850 Fayette County, Tennessee Census, noting that R.W. Gaby was the only one in three states that could not be connected. Well, I can connect him because I believe that he belongs to my long lost Gable/Gabbie family from South Carolina. Mary Gabbie, who was married to Cordelia N. Pierce, also moved from York District, South Carolina to Fayette County, Tennessee in 1837 so there is a definite connection to the location. There is a profile of the Gabbie/Pierce family in "Goodspeed's History of Tennessee."
Also, the name Sheets strikes a familiar note and I will look further into that connection for you and post something later. Thanks again for the great info. :)
Karen
