Dear Arlene,
thanks for yours - sorry not to have replied before. George Gaby definitely came from Wiltshire and served in the war of Independence and is noted as a pensioner. The speeling of his name is Gaby. Unfortunately, I still cannot connect him to a particuler family but have a suspicion that he may be connected to William Gaby of Bromham in Wiltshire. as there is no listing of him in parish registers, it may be that his parents were dissenters and that may be why the emigrated.
