I uncovered the following information recently which was new to me it may be of interest to others who visit this site.
Thomas Gacquin, son of Denis Gacquin, Ballyforan married Rosanna Monahan, daughter of Patrick Monahan in Roscommon town on 27 Jan 1896. His age was given as over twenty one as was his new wife. This couple had a Public House(Bar) in Castle Street, Roscommon Town. In 1901 Thomas and Rosanna Gacquin are listed in the census aged 34 and 33 respecively, no children. Thomas Gacquin died on 14 Aug 1902 and his age is given as 39. Rosanna Gacquin remarried on 1 Dec 1911 William Logan of Athlone.
Thomas Gacquin must be the son of Denis Gacquin and Mary Flynn Mucklon, Ballyforan, Co. Galway. He was baptised on 2 Oct 1858.
This gives three different dates for the birth of Thomas Gacquin; 1858, 1863 and 1867.
If anybody knows more of this Bar in Roscommon and what happened to it I would be glad to hear from you.
