Hi I am hoping to make contact with other Galiegue researchers. My Great great grandmother is: Elizabeth Amelia Galiegue was born in London , she had four brothers and two sisters Her fathers name was William Galiegue and her mothers maiden name was Elizabeth Amelia Cooke, her mother & father were married on the 29th March 1818 at St Mathews , Bethnal Green , London. Her father was an Undertaker . Thomas Holmes GALIEGUE . Christened 23 May 1819 @ St Mathews , Bethnal Green Catherine Margaret " 6th May 1821 Ann 30th March 1823 @ " " " William James 12th June 1825 John 25th March 1827 @ St Margarets , Lothbury. Elizabeth Amelia. Born 20 Jan 1830 Christened on 14th February 1830 @ St Giles , Cripplegate . Charles 11th March 1832 She sailed from England [ Gravesend ?] 28th January 1851 on the ship " Stateley" under a Captain T. Ginder. and arrived in Auckland on the 1/6/1851. There were 33 women passengers . She was listed as being a needlewoman . William Galiegue was the youngest of four children , his fathers name was John Batist Galiegue and his mothers was Ann . They were married at St Leonards , Shoreditch , London . John Christened 22nd July 1783 @ St Leonards , Shoreditch , London Ann '' 13th July 1785 @ '' '' " Joseph '' 11th November 1787 @ '' '' '' William '' 27th December 1790 @ '' '' '' William Brighton & Elizabeth Amelia Galiegue were married in Auckland on the 4/2/1852 . It seems that they had nine children John ---- Born---1852 in Auckland William Arthur---Born---1855 M. 1887 John George died 1857 aged 4 years 10 months Alice Charlotte --- Born---20th Dec. 1856. M/ 11/3/1878 Josiah Hart Saies. Died 8th April 1915 Thomas Herbert--- Born---1860 Died 1889 at Auckland Annie Amelia ---Born---1862 M/ 1884 to William Edwin Harvie. Charles Edwin ---Born---1865---M/ 1888 D/ 1940 at Auckland. Fredrick Henry---Born---1867 Flora Martha---Born---1869 M/ 1894 James Robert---Born---1872 M/ 1897. William Brighton Died 30th December 1881 at the age of 57 He died of Pneumonia . At the time of his death he was employed as a Commercial Traveller . Eight of his children survived him . On his death certificate it was recorded that he lived in Seafield View Rd , Grafton , Auckland The information on the death certificate was supplied by William Arthur Brighton . Elizabeth Amelia Brighton remarried on the 11th June 1885 at the age of 55. She married Samuel Barton Lush , aged 57, they were married in the dwelling house of James Muir Paterson in Seafield View Rd , Auckland. Samuel Barton Lush's profession was a Dyer. The Best Man was Charles Edwin Brighton of Mount Eden and the Bridesmaid was Sarah Paterson , Auckland . I have a letter Elizabeth Galiegue wrote to a newspaper in New Zealand shortly after her arrival regarding an assault which took place on board by the Capt.
