Eileen,

Do you have any information on the following Gaughans?

Mary Gaughan, daughter of Pat Gaughan, married Michael O'Malley in the RC chapel of Belmullet 14 April 1878. In 1901 there were approximately 6-7 children and the family lived on Davis St., Belmullet (later named America St?). One of the children was my mother, Ellen O'Malley, b 1891. Another was Michael O'Malley who married a McAndrew. Relatives of the McAndrews are still in Belmullet. Two of the children lived in Stripe, Belmullet until the early 1950, at which time they sold the place to people named Reilly.

Anthony Gaughan, born in August 1860, very probably in the Belmullet area since he was a cousin (first or second?) of my mother. Anthony married a Margaret (b Ireland) (last name unknown) in 1892. Anthony emigrated to Canada sometime prior to 1893 when his first child was born in Canada. The family emigrated to Ohio and then settled in West Virginia about 1899.

If you know anything at all about these folks, please let me know.

Jim O'Reilly
