George Washington Ferrell b abt 1820 Kentucky (son of John E Ferrell and Jane Dickson)m Martha Gay b abt 1825 in Kentucky?
I am looking for any information, especially parents of Martha Gay. I have her birthplace as Kentucky as stated on 1850 and 1860 Livingston County, Kentucky Census, but there is some question that her birthplace MAY be Georgia. Oral family history has always been that "Patsy" (Martha) was "the Indian" meaning Cherokee.
There was 2 Gay heads of households in the 1840 Livingston County, Kentucky census - Allen Gay and Jordan Gay. Allen had 2 marks in the female 15-20 yrs of age column (which would be correct for Martha) and Jordan had none. Allen appears on all census from 1810-1850 in Livingston County, Kentucky, with the correct female marked each time to the 1830 census.
Does anyone know if Allen Gay is Martha Gay's father? And was the family Cherokee?
