Wit: Wm. Moorman Jonathan Parker, JP. Lewis Hodgeson was very active in realty transactions in Wilkinson Co. during this period. Portions of Big Creek in Washington Co., GA, also became part of Laurens Co. Many records in the area prior to 1852 were lost. 4 May 1812 JOEL SMITH, decd, HENRY SMITH issued Letters of Administration Temperance Gay must have met William Brock, here before they married in1813 /1814, in Campbell Co., GA and they settled in Coweta Co. Not only did a William Brock live near by on Big Creek until ca. 1813/1814. a William Brock was listed as a chain carrier with a Thomas Daniel, for a B. Jordan, employed by Thomas Duncan d.1823 Laurens Co. GA] on 6 March 1813, -headright surveys (FHL film 465,008) XX-134: Plat for Thomas Duncan for 200 acres in Washington Co., adj. pine land on waters of Little Ohoopee. Lot 247 was awarded a Wm Brock, unmarried, of Montgomery Co., in the 4th district of Wilkinson Co, 16 Jul 1806, in the 1805 Land Lottery. http://www.georgiagenealogy.org/wilkinson/landlots.html Allen Gay was a recipient in the 5th district of Wilkinson.
