Hi Van, I may have sent this to you previously over the years, but if not, this may be a tie to Montgomery county, Georgia with William Brock of Coweta County, Georgia, in case it helps down the road: Carroll County, GA Deed Book "A" p. 309 - -Montgomery County - - July 17, 1830 - - Jesse Brock to William Brock, Coweta County, GA $100. Land Lot #94 11th Dist. Carroll County. 202 1/2 acres granted to Jesse Brock. Attest: John McLean, (?), A. McLennan, J.P. July 1830 p. 310 - - July 6, 1830 - - Coweta County, GA - - William Brock to George Scott, Coweta County, $100. Land Lot #94 11th Dist. Carroll County, GA. Attest: Benton Walton, Levi T. Wellborn J.I.C. July 26, 1830 --- I would guess as you have, that William Brock and Temperance Gay married in Wilkinson county, Georgia or nearby areas, where the early marriage records are apparently not available. I don't know if the Ramah Baptist church minutes in Wilkinson county might shed any light on your question, but assume that you have already explored this. Last year, I looked at the minutes for the Island Creek Baptist church in Hancock County, Georgia and found these entries about Allen Gay. I did not look for Brock names, but I still have the minutes on microfilm and can look at them for any mention of William Brock. We know that Allen Gay family was in Hancock County, Georgia prior to going to Wilkinson county, Georgia, so that is another place to look for possible marriage of William Brock and Temperance Gay, since the Allen Gay extended family seemed to move together much of the time to same places, or follow several years later ISLAND CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH MINUTES, Hancock County, Georgia (Source: Southern Baptist Historical Library & Archives, Nashville, Tennessee, Microfilm # 6522) RECORD OF CHURCH MEMBERS Allen GAY, admitted to church by experience, July 2, 1803, dismissed Feb. 1, 1809 Abigail GAY, admitted to church by experience, March 2, 1805, dismissed Feb. 1, 1809 Mary CASTLEBERRY, admitted to church Feb. 1, 1806 by letter, dismissed July 2, 1808 Sarah CASTLEBERRY, admitted to church Feb. 1, 1806 by letter, dismissed Oct. ? 9, 1815 April 5, 1806 - - - The Church of Christ at Island Creek, Hancock, County (Georgia), In Conference- - - Received a petition by the hand of Bro. GAY informed the church that Simon, a black Bro. belonging to Mr. GAY, had lately taken a second wife and his first still alive. The busines was laid over to our next meeting. September 5, 1807 - - - The busines respecting Bro. Simon as mentioned to the church last meeting. Bro. GAY postponed till our next conference. October 3, 1807 - - - In conference met. The church took up the business respecting Simon, a negro man, the property of Bro. GAY, which was laid over the last conference, and after some deliberations, the church declared Simon no longer a member of this church for having left a wife he had for several years, and taken up with another in a few days after. July 2, 1808 - - - Conference being opened, the following members applied for Letters of Dismission: Thos. McGinty and wife; Mary Ann Castleberry; which was granted. February 1, 1809 - - - Bro. Allen Gay and Abigail his wife, applied for Letters of Dismission which were granted. ------ NOTES: Ramah Primitive Baptist Church, Wilkinson County, Ga. Hwy. 57, south of Gordon, Organized in 1809 Church Constituted June 10, 1809 by __?__ Castleberry, Cornelius Batchelor, Thomas McGinty, ___? McGinty, John Proctor, Adam Jones, Ella Jones, Fanny Proctor, Allen GAY and Abigail GAY. ) -------------------- By 1820, Allen Gay family is in Jasper County, Georgia, and we know that Allen Gay went to Henry County, Georgia by 1824. In 1827, a William Brock sold land in Henry County, Georgia: 26 Oct 1827 - Henry Co GA, Deed Bk F, p 168. Henry County, Georgia William BROCK sold to Elijah M CHAPMAN, both of said Co, on 26 Oct 1827, the 52nd year of American Independence, 202 1/2 acres of land, Lot #15 in Dist 6, for the sum of $50. Wit: Charles HULSEY and A T HARDIN, Clerk. Recorded on 10 Jun 1832. ---- Also, I have a question about Fairby Caroline Gay who is shown in a number of ancestry.com submissions as a daughter of William Brock and Temperance Gay. Do you know how this connection was made, and if there is documentation for it? I am wondering if a Betsy G. Brock (born ca 1820-1821 in GA) may have been a daughter of William Brock and Temperance Gay? Betsy G. Brock and Zeal Brown applied for a marriage license on Nov. 12, 1841 in Coweta County, Georgia and then for whatever reason, went over to Meriwether County, Georgia and married on Nov. 14, 1841, instead of actually marrying in Coweta County, Georgia. Also, do you know if there was an estate or probate record for William Brock or Temperance Gay Brock which may give the names of their children?
