Most seem to believe that Benjamin Gay, b.1775 in NC was married to Mary, moved to Hardeman, TN, had Edwin, Lemuel, and Gary and then died in Hardeman in 1830. His father was Richard S. Gay. His mother Sabrina.
If so, who is the Benjamin b.1775 listed in the Edgecombe Vital Records as married to Jerusha b. 1770 and died in Edgecombe "aft.1850".
In adition to that marriage record, I found a listing of an Elizabeth, 1829, Martha, 1832, and Richard, 1825 described as "children of son of Benjamin & Jerusha; Mother, Sarah,1795.
Also in the 1850 Census I found a Benjamin Gay, b.1775 in NC, living in Edgecombe with Martha Gay, b. 1832 NC.
Who are these people? Help.
