Just happened upon this thread... I have 2006 Vista Home Premium operating system. Among many other things I was able to transfer via a cable and software, from my old machine ("Windows Me") a large number of programs and data which generally worked OK. Among them was my 1998 Generations v.4.2 AND Liberty Edition 8.5! The basic program functions work in both programs, however, you can't change the font size in 4.2 and with twice the resolution in my new computer, the font is too small to read easily - even with a large screen, however - even the help works! Things are better in Liberty, the font size can be increased, however, the help function yields a "not available on Vista" message. I recall, to my surprise, that although most of my software was not directly compatible with Vista, that Vista was able to modify those programs so they would work. Also, one can always have her computer partitioned with Vista on one side and XP on the other...
