I believe there are two different Geniesse families that settled in the Green Bay region. I am from the branch began by Richard and Marie, and their children Francois (Frank P.), Clement, Alphonse, and Celenia (Bruyere). The other branch was started by the Ghilain Geniesse that is mentioned frequently in this forum. If you have a year of birth for your gr grandfather John, that may help determine which branch is yours.
