My great-great grandmother was Mary Dudley b. 1826 Effingham County (Savannah) Georgia who married James Wm. Oliver in 1844. Her parents were Guildford Dudly and Susan Gilleland. Her father was William Gilleland who married Rhoda Gindrat in Effingham Co Ga.James william Oliver was the son of William F. Oliver (b. 1790 NC) and Mary Venable (1800 NC). I do not know the pedigree of either. There is a Richard Venable (1712 Cumberland County PA who married Mary Jordan. Mary's sister married a Wray and her granddaughter married the son of Alexander Gilleland of Lincoln Co, NC. I am trying to connect my Savannah Gillelands to the Lincoln Co, NC Gillelands but am having a hard time finding ancestors for my ancestor William Gilliland who married Rhoda Gindrat.
Now that you are as confused as I am, could anyone help me either find William Gilleland's parents or connect him with Alexander Gilleland of Lincoln NC?
