Nola,
After I realized that Abraham had more alternate spellings to his name than I realized, I looked at the 1790 Rowan County NC census transcript and found him listed as Abraham Gellihan...another Spelling! I have seen the Gilliland spelling also. All the descendents that I know of spelled the name Gillean -- all of my direct line stayed in the Rowan County area
