My grandfather was the above Frank George Goddard who died in April 1940 on HMS Thistle, a submarine, off Norway. The whole crew were lost. Unfortunately, my mother was only a few weeks old and her mother remarried very promptly and never spoke about him.We lived in Portsmouth, they were married probably in St Mary's church, and he married Doris Ethel Hammond b. 18th October 1912. Have you any idea who he was? If I knew his father's name I might be able to track him down and find out more about him. Any information about Goddards in portsmouth would be great. I believe he had two sisters, Eva and Elsie, and Elsie had a daughter called Olive, who may have been a missionary.
