We have not gotten further than that either, but my husband's grandmother was Maymie Goddard, daughter of Fillmore Goddard and Ann Gilkerson. Fillmore's parents were Samuel Goddard and Amanda Puckett. Fillmore was born November 1 1871 Rainelle, Greenbrier WV and died 7/19/1955. Amanda Puckett was born March 30 1838 and died April 12, 1916 in Greenbrier. Samuel was born approximately in 1837 in Virginia. They were married April 30, 1858 in Greenbrier. Samuel may have been born in Greenbrier as well. West Virginia was part of Virginia at that time. Perhaps their marriage certificate would tell. I'd love to learn more. Other children of Samuel and Amanda included Mary born 1863, Colonel G born 1866, Cyrus born 1866 and Ledona 1875. According to the records I found, Eva Edith Goddard was Maymie Susan's sister. She was born September 28, 1901. Is your grandmother still alive?
