After a hiatus of a few years, I am returning to my Goddard lines.
I am the grandson of Zella Merle Goddard (1907-1981). She was the daughter of Albert Edward Goddard (1872-1951). He, in turn was the son of Jordan Goddard (1837- after 1910). I believe Jordan is a Johnson County, Illinois Goddard because 1) He served in Company I, 120th Illinois which was a Johnson County civil war unit, 2) he was discharged at Vienna, Illinois; and 3) he was married, in 1854, to Rebecca Harner who was also from Illinois. Jordan and Rebecca are in the 1860 census of Tunnel Hill, but that is the only Johnson County census in which I find him. After that he is listed in Crawford County, Missouri, then Texas County, Missouri where he dies after 1910. He is buried in Bendavis, Texas County, Missouri beside Rebecca.
I have had absolutely no good luck finding his family. I have always thought he might be a son of John Goddard and Susanna Casey Goddard but so far cannot make that connection. Any advice or thoughts on this problem warmly appreciated.
