In 1887 a Charles Goddard married an Eliza Goddard (not related) in Maclean, NSW, Australia.
Charles' family originated from Nottinghamshire. Charles was born in Retford in 1853. Charles emigrated to Australia in the 1870's -1880's. The furthest I can go (although I can't verify the accuracy) is William Goddard, born in 1774 in North Muskham, Notts, England. Married to Mary Reynolds on 31 December 1789 with first (& only? child being Joseph born on 17 April 1790).
Eliza's family originated from Dorset. Her father Thomas Ash Goddard was born in Bridport in 1826 (married Amelia Munden). Thomas emigrated to Australia in 1858. Eliza was born in Grafton, NSW, Australia on 6 January 1869. The furthest back that I can go (although I can't verify the accuracy) is Henry Goddard born c.1794 (married to Ann Ash). I have at times seen 'Ash' spelt as 'Aish'.
Any info (or links to persons researching the same lines) would be much appreciated.
