Mike, I'm afraid I can't offer any instant answers to your queries but can put forward a comment and suggestion or two. It doesn't seem likely that the William Goddard who married Mary Reynolds in South Muskham in 1789 is the William Goddard who was christened in North Muskham in 1774, assuming of course that he was christened as an infant. Christenings for South Muskham for the period prior to 1780 have not been transcribed to the IGI (or to any other index so far as I can see) and there seems to be a distinct possibility that that was where he was born. Christenings for North Muskham are on the IGI for the period 1744-1843. I suggest therefore that you look at the LDS film of the Bishops Transcripts for South Muskham which cover Baptisms, Marriages and Burials for the period 1623-1812. The film is no. 0503794. While you have this film I suggest you confirm the marriage of William Goddard to Mary Reynolds in 1789. Incidentally, in case you are not aware of this, Charles Goddard's father, Michael Goddard, died on 27 March 1902 at Gildingwells which is in Yorkshire just across the border from Nottinghamshire. Probate was granted to his widow, Caroline Annie Goddard and to his daughter Caroline Annie Horsley, wife of George Henry Horsley. Caroline & George's marriage was registered in the March Qtr. of 1902 at Worksop (which is the registration district for Gildingwells). I have Michael's first marriage to Ann Watkinson in 1849 but not his apparent marriage to Caroline Annie. With regard to the baptism of Thomas Ash Goddard, the 1851 Census suggests he was born in Allington (very close to Bridport) and baptisms for that period for Allington are not on the IGI. LDS film no. 1279478 is the Bishops Transcript covering 1732-1879 which you could order and view at your local Family History Centre. Hope I've been of some help.
