In Cottage Grove, Lane County, Oregon, there is a street sign that says "Goddard Lane". My grandfather Jackson Frederick Godard (one "d" ) and his older brother Sherman Lewis Godard lived on this lane and it was named after them for that reason. However, apparently, the official powers spelled it wrong, but the sign went up anyway. So, it has nothing to do with any Goddards (two "dd" ) living on that lane. It's just a beaureaucratic screwup that exists to this day. Both Jackson and Sherman are deceased and to my knowledge, no other Godards are living in the area.
