Many thanks for your reply Peter. It would appear the apple didn't fall far from the tree ... just about everybody in the family was born in and around Compton - moving to Elstead in later years. In fact I lived in Hurtmore just 3 miles from Compton for most of my life before moving to Canada.

Can I confirm. You have George Goddard as baptized in Compton on 4 December 1808 and married to Ann Hart 26 December 1808? I believe the marriage date may be incorrect as Ann would have been quite old when Eliza was born in 1850.

Do we know where Elizabeth Cooper was from. Was she local to Compton? Do you have any background on her?
