Hi Amy, I have an abstract of the will of John D. Horsey. It is found in Will Book H, page 2, Sussex County, DE. It was written 13 Sep 1827 and presented for probate on 16 Oct 1827. I have John's death date as 3 Oct 1827. The will mentions wife, Goodden (so spelled); son, Samuel; daughter, Elizabeth Cannon (wife of Wingate); grandchildren, Arter Dashiell and Ann Gooden Horsey (children of Samuel). The executor was Joseph Truitt. Witnesses to the will were: Stephen Green and Horsley Maston. I have the death date of Goodin Goddard Horsey as sometime after 1830 and list her as born c1766. Wish I could find the exact dates. Parents: Francis Lane Goddard and wife, Mary. On the two children listed in the will, Elizabeth and Samuel: I show Elizabeth's death date as 25 Mar 1828. She was married to Wingate Cannon. I show one daughter for them, Sally Cannon, who was born 11 Oct 1824 and died 9 Nov 1860. Her husband was Amos Woodcock. For the son, Samuel, I show his death date as 21 Nov 1829 and his wife as Sarah English, b. c1800. Their children are the 'grandchildren' listed in the will. That's about it. I do not list a son named John H. Horsey born to this family. Do you have a death date for John? Marriage? Is it possible he is a son and died before his father in 1827? Happy to exchange information. Linda Goddard Stout Contact me at donstout@suddenlink.net Notify Administrator about this message?
