Seeking information regarding the Joao/John Goncalves/Gonsalves family of Delhi, California in the early 1900s. Joao was from Madeira Island, possibly from the village of Canhas. In the 1930s, he would bring produce to the West Oakland area to sell. When there, he would visit my grandfather, Jose Pitta. A story in the family indicates that he sold off most of his farm, but kept a portion intact to be used as an instructional park to show future generations how farming was.
