Martin Gosser - bn. Alsace Lorraine 1821

I'm looking for the family of Martin Gosser, born 15 Dec 1821 in Belfort, Alsace-Lorraine, son of Joseph Gosser.

Joseph Gosser and three sons are said to have come to America c. 1846. One brother, possibly named William, settled in Shelby, OH. The third brother may be the Gosser who founded the Gosser family of KY.

My own ancestor, Martin Gosser, settled in Sandusky, OH where he married Mary E. Payne. Their children are

i. George Gosser, who built the Gosser Hotel in Sandusky and married in 1868 to Maggie Mack of Sandusky
ii. Francis Gosser, who was born around 1854 and married Mary Ann Barton of Cleveland
iii. Edward Gosser, who was born in 1857 and married Mary Ann Cheesman
iv. Mary E. Gosser
v. Emily Gosser, known as “Ella,” she married 1903 to Earnest Hartman, a building contractor
vi. Martin J. Gosser

I have been able to find nothing else on these Gossers in the Belfort area. I believe they may have came from elsewhere and just emigrated to the US from Belfort.

According to my grandmother, she maintained the family was "schweitzer deutsch" -- which I understand to mean Swiss.
