Hello,
I'm brand new to this geneology research thing, but curiosity drew me to this board.
I recently moved to Cambridge, England from British Columbia in Canada. Gowland is a realtively rare surname around Vancouver where my family is based (I only encountered one not directly related to me during my entire life there).
I'm curious if anyone here in England or elsewhere has any link to us.
My grandfather was Ronald Gowland. He had one brother (William I think, but I'm not sure), would have been born around 1920, living around the Teeside area. He served in the Fleet Air Arm during the war, then emigrated to Canada with his wife Rita and three children (Elizabeth, Paul my father and Jennifer) shortly after. They moved first to Winnepeg, and then on to Vancouver a few years later. He passed away last year.
I've just written my dad asking for some more precise birthdate and birthplace info, and names of my great grandfather, etc. I'll post that when it comes.
