Dear Karen,
My grandmother's maiden name was Gozzard, she was born in Leeds in the 1880s and died in Leeds in 1960 aged 84.
She was the youngest of 13 children of Henry Gozzard a jobbing builder, he built lots of the hoses round St.Jamess Hospital in Leeds. He had a brother who also had 13 children . The two brothers had married two sisters whom I understand came from Scarborough. My grandmother was married in Sheffield at Wadsworth Parish Church, she was always vague about the reason , though I do know one of her sisters lived there.
