There is a piece of correspondence in a collection of letters once belonging to Sarah Shelton (b. Todd County, Kentucky in 1816)in which her sister, Mary Ann Shelton gives her the Sheton and Green ancestry. Sarah and Mary Ann’s parents were Asher Shelton and Mary Green. The date of the letter was missing, but I believe it to be between 1865 and 1875. The substance of the letter reads;
Sarah Shelton is the daughter of Asher Shelton, the son of Jeremiah Shelton who is the son of Ralph Shelton who is the son of Ralph Shelton Sr. who came from England.
And
Mary Green his wife, who is the daughter of Jesse Green who is the son of John Green who is the Son of John Green Sr. who is the son of George Green who came from England.
My information is that Jesse Green had 7 children; Louis, Sallie, Anthony, Joel, Reuben, Sarah, and Mary who married Asher.
I cannot speak to the accuracy of the Green side, but the Shelton side is absolutley correct. I hope those researching this line of the Green family may find the information useful.
