You can look at Frances' death certificate for free at: http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_select.aspx

It shows her parents as Matthew Green and Mary Parker, both were born in England. Frances was born in Iowa.

The 1880 census shows a Francis 9, born in Iowa as the son (yes, the son) of Matthew and Mary Green living in Union Twp., Allegheny County, PA.

The 1870 census shows Matthew and family living in Putnam Twp., Fayette County, IA.

The 1900 census shows Matthew was born June 1829 in England, Mary was born Sept 1833. He immigrated in 1863 and she in 1864.

The 1910 census shows the widowed Matthew still living in Union Twp.

The 1861 English census shows what I believe are the same Matthew and Mary living in Bedlington, Northumberland County.

I believe Mary and the children arrived on the "City of Washington" on July 6, 1863 in NY.

This may not be the right Matthew and Mary or it could be the right parents and the enumerator made a mistake and assumed Francis was their son. One piece of data that argues for the latter is the death record of William Parker Green who died in WV in 1922. I couldn't find his death certificate in the above database but did find an extract of it at this website which shows he had the same parents: http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html?datestamp=1195390820093#fatherGivenName=matthew;fatherSurname=green;motherGivenName=mary;searchType=standard;motherSurname=parker;p=recordResults

One way to be sure would be to get Frances and William's obituaries. Hopefully they list the siblings. Then you'll know you have the right family.

If this is the right Matthew and Mary I suggest trying to get their obits and death certificates. Check with the Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society at the Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh to see if they can help you find the death dates.
