Thanks for the response. I'm trying to identify the family of a John Greenway (also spelled Greenaway in various documents) who, according to the 1850 Warrick County, Indiana, Census, was born in NC c1776. John died in Warrick County IN in 1850. I believe he is the John "Grenaway" enumerated on page 94 of the 1810 Ohio County, Kentucky Census, and his firstborn son was a Joseph Greenway, born in KY c1810.
John Greenway is enumerated on the following Indiana Censuses:
1820: Pike County, Jefferson Township, p.302
1830: Warrick County, Skelton Township, p.271
1840: Warrick County, Skelton Township, p.41
1850: Warrick County, Pigeon Township, p.184
John also had a daughter named Edna, which is my connection.
After reviewing the available material for Greenaway/Greenway families in NC at the time I came up with two possibilities for John's father: (1) the Joseph Greenaway enumerated on the a c1768 Rowan County NC Tax List, and (2) a Joseph Greenway who was somehow involved (probably received)in land warrant transactions in Guilford County NC, c1780-1784. I am unsure if this is the same individual or perhaps a father/son relationship.
As there appears to be very few Greenaway/Greenway families in early NC, I am hoping to develop information to connect John, and would appreciate any comments or suggestions.
